B. Lee Skilken graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in civil engineering. After serving his country in the Air Force, he entered Skilken Real Estate, a multifaceted real estate business in the 1950s. Mr. Skilken became President in 1970 and since then he has increased the company's holdings from quite limited retail properties in Dayton, Ohio into the two million square feet all over Ohio and in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Florida, California and Arizona that it now owns. Additionally under his leadership, the company has become a preferred developer for CVS Corporation, and a frequent developer for Kroger and Target.
